Southwest PDP Upturns Chairman’s Suspension In Oyo.

The Southwest zonal office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday upturned the suspension of the Chairman of the party in Ibadan North East Local Government of Oyo State, Taiwo Iyiola, over alleged anti-party activities.  It said the suspension of Iyiola by the State Working Committee (SWC) was arbitrarily without any preliminary hearing as demanded by the party’s constitution.  PDP spokesman in Oyo State Akeem Olatunji said on the phone that the Zonal Secretary, Daisi Akintan, who signed the letter reinstating the suspended chairman, lacked power to act without the consent of the Zonal Chairman, Dayo Ogunbenro. He said the purported letter was null and void.

Gaza Violence: Suicide 💣 Bombers Kill 3 Officers

Suicide bombers thought to be aligned with the Islamic State (IS) group have attacked two police checkpoints in Gaza, killing three Palestinian officers, security sources says.

The attacks follow a recent operation by Hamas, which controls Gaza, against militants linked to IS.

One of the bombers who carried out Tuesday's attacks had previously been held, a security source told.

A state of emergency was declared after the attacks with forces on alert.

Two police officers were killed and a third Palestinian wounded in the first bomb, which was set off from a motorcycle near a police checkpoint.

The second explosion, less than an hour later, killed another officer and wounded several people at a separate checkpoint, Hamas's interior ministry said.

Security forces deployed hundreds of personnel on the main roads in the Gaza Strip following the attacks.
