The Southwest zonal office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday upturned the suspension of the Chairman of the party in Ibadan North East Local Government of Oyo State, Taiwo Iyiola, over alleged anti-party activities.  It said the suspension of Iyiola by the State Working Committee (SWC) was arbitrarily without any preliminary hearing as demanded by the party’s constitution.  PDP spokesman in Oyo State Akeem Olatunji said on the phone that the Zonal Secretary, Daisi Akintan, who signed the letter reinstating the suspended chairman, lacked power to act without the consent of the Zonal Chairman, Dayo Ogunbenro. He said the purported letter was null and void.

Sowore: ‘Nigeria Has A Way Of ๐Ÿ˜’ Punishing The Innocent’ – Banky W

Nigerian musician turned politician, Banky W has reacted to the ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja ordering the Department of State Services to immediately release pro-democracy activist, Omoyele Sowore, on bail.

DAILY POST reports that Omoyele Sowore, a co-convener of the RevolutionNow movement was granted bail by an Abuja Federal High Court on Tuesday.

The Justice Taiwo Taiwo-led court said there was no longer a subsisting order holding Sowore in detention, hence the need to grant him bail.

Justice Taiwo, however, ordered Sowore to deposit his international passport to the court while releasing him to his lawyer, Femi Falana.

The co-convener of the RevolutionNow movement had allegedly called for a revolution over the supposed failure of the current Federal Government.

Reacting via Twitter, Banky-W described Nigeria as a country that prides itself in punishing the innocent.
