The Southwest zonal office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday upturned the suspension of the Chairman of the party in Ibadan North East Local Government of Oyo State, Taiwo Iyiola, over alleged anti-party activities.  It said the suspension of Iyiola by the State Working Committee (SWC) was arbitrarily without any preliminary hearing as demanded by the party’s constitution.  PDP spokesman in Oyo State Akeem Olatunji said on the phone that the Zonal Secretary, Daisi Akintan, who signed the letter reinstating the suspended chairman, lacked power to act without the consent of the Zonal Chairman, Dayo Ogunbenro. He said the purported letter was null and void.

‘Ghana Moving Away From ๐Ÿ‘‰Export of Raw Materials’ -๐Ÿ”Š Bawumia

The Government of Ghana has a vision of moving away from the export of raw materials to manufacturing, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said.

To that end, he said, the government has initiated measures to ensure that more manufacturing companies are set up in the country to process the raw materials locally.

He said this when he toured the Brompton Portfolio’s toilet paper manufacturing factory located at the Nsawam Prisons in the Eastern Region on Thursday, 26th September 2019.

He further stated that Ghana can now boast of fourteen (14) indigenous toilet roll manufacturing companies operating in the country.

The Head of the Government’s Economic Management team explained that when the Akufo-Addo administration came into office, there were nine of the companies already existing, but under the One District One Factory Programme, five new additions have been made.

Addressing the media, Vice President Bawumia indicated that the One District One Factory (1D1F) initiative was launched as one of the pillars for President Nana Akufo-Addo’s industrialisation agenda.
