The Southwest zonal office of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday upturned the suspension of the Chairman of the party in Ibadan North East Local Government of Oyo State, Taiwo Iyiola, over alleged anti-party activities.  It said the suspension of Iyiola by the State Working Committee (SWC) was arbitrarily without any preliminary hearing as demanded by the party’s constitution.  PDP spokesman in Oyo State Akeem Olatunji said on the phone that the Zonal Secretary, Daisi Akintan, who signed the letter reinstating the suspended chairman, lacked power to act without the consent of the Zonal Chairman, Dayo Ogunbenro. He said the purported letter was null and void.

Buhari's Minister Reveals Amount Recovered From Anti-Corruption War

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), says the Federal Government has so far recovered in excess of N200 billion in final forfeiture in its anti-corruption fight.

Malami disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at a Special Town Hall Meeting on "Fight Against Corruption", organised by the Ministry of Information and Culture.

The minister, who was represented by Mr Abiodun Ayodeji, Special Adviser to the President on Financial Crimes, said that there were other recoveries that were still in the interim, NAN reports.

"We have recovered in excess of 200 billion in final forfeiture and there are recoveries still in the interim than cannot be dealt with.

"The money we have earned for the federal government in the process of the anti-corruption war is in the excess of N200 billion.

"Notable among the recoveries is the 325 million dollar Abacha loot and 75 million dollar connected to the Malabu oil transaction,'' he said.

The minister said that the recovery was significant considering the effects of corruption on the country.
